About us

To tell you a little more about myself...My name is Michelle aka Shelly, Shell, or Shells owner and founder of Fur Keepers.  I have lived in the Winston area ever since I was in middle school. My favorite season is spring, & fall, my all time favorite show is Grey's Anatomy and Chicago PD. I enjoy helping others, yoga, cooking, traveling, going on cruises, camping, the beach, movies, doing research, problem solving, reading, painting, hiking, listening to music, as well as spending time with friends and family. I've been a Dental Assistant since 2002 (20+ years, wow....that's hard to believe),  I still dabble in it from time to time. I've always felt like there was something missing though and have always been striving for something more. I opened Fur Keepers in Aug 2018. Since then, I have been so happy and fulfilled.  I graduated from Highland Canine "The Leader in Global Canine Training" from the Master Dog Training program June 15, 2023. I'm confident I'll will be able to address obedience needs as well as problematic behaviors and that I have the skills learned during the 6mo Master Dog Training program attended. 412 classroom hours and 548 hands-on/lab hours totaling 960 hours of education to become a Certified Dog Trainer was completed.  I have a lifelong passion and love for animals. I'm an only child, so growing up w/o any classmates living close by, my pet during those times was literally my best friend and brought lots of joy to my life. Pets aren't my whole life...they make my life whole. 

Kerry, my husband, helper of Fur Keepers Pet Services has lived in the area his whole life except when he was in the Navy for approx 9yrs.  He enjoys mostly everything I do except the research and reading part.  His favorite TV shows are: Family Feud, Mike and Molly, and King of Queens.  He enjoys neon signs, golfing, cooking/grilling, fishing, and jukeboxes.  

 Hayley, our daughter, helper of Fur Keepers Pet Services just completed dog grooming school and received her certificate. She plans to introduce smaller grooming services to Fur Keepers in the near future. She has two daughters a 2-year-old and an infant lighting up her world. When she's not tending to furry clients, she finds hobbies in DIY activities, channeling creativity into projects. She frequently tunes into shows like "Shameless" "Impractical Jokers" and "Heartbreak Island".

Jacob Reno will be helping out with overnights & possibly some visits here & there.   

Jacob is 25 years old and has spent most of his life in Davie County, his services do not solely end with animals as he tries to go above and beyond and serving the community as a Firefighter with Advance.   Jacob has 5 Dogs and an amazing Cat varying from 2 Shepards to an adorable Russian Blue Maine Coon.

Alex Sharp will be watching the Mowery pack (our 6 overnight) so we can be with your loved ones. 

Alex loves & is passionate about animals. Her family grew up with dogs, cats, & fish. She does whatever it takes to make sure that all the animals are well taken care of. Alex has a Cocker Spaniel named Precious whom she loves with all her heart. She loves learning new things.  She says "it gives me insight of how things work that I had no clue about".
